Update from Madison Heights Workday
Feedback on today's fun, oops, workday at Madison Heights - posted on behalf of text author and Trialsmaster Ed Beehler.
Reporting for duty as Junior Assistant Trialsmasters/Manual Labor Chain Gang members today at Madison Heights were Joe Palrang, Joe Walters, Christian Alva, Michael Friesen, Aleks Baron and Liam Baron.
For hours today the woods reverberated with the sound of multiple Dueling Leafblowers while the sweet aroma of Stihl 50:1 pre-mix permeated the air. Paraphrasing Colonel Kilgore (Apocalypse Now): “I love the smell of pre-mix in the morning. It smells like….. Victory!” In the absence of ticks, gnats, snakes, mosquitoes, and oppressive heat/humidity, the dauntless crew labored like, like, like a dauntless crew of laborers!
Joe and Joe were unstoppable tackling rock formations the size of houses in their effort to combat Mother Nature’s limitless reserves of entropy! Their efforts resulted in several sections ready to be photographed by Better Gardens and Sections magazine. Christian and Micheal cleaned out years of undergrowth and discovered an Native America totem with the word “FANTIC” carved in it! Speculation abounded as to an accurate translation from Seminole or Cherokee. After Joe and Joe left, Aleks and Liam showed up and worked hard at cleaning leaves out from under the canopy. The Father-Son team show great promise and potential!
At the end of the day, Christian got a hankering for wild, fresh picked beignet! So off we went with a sense of adventure only matched by Bigfoot hunters. In less than 15 minutes, we hit the Mother Lode. Aleks, Liam, and Michael zoned in on an excellent patch of fresh, wild beignet so quickly, you would have thought one of them placed it there personally less than an hour earlier. Eating fresh picked, wild beignet with friends on a brisk sunny day in December is truly an experience that will be remembered by all for decades!
