Results for Axton Silver Dollar Trials Aug 21, 2022
38 riders rode the event at the Lacy horse farm on Sunday.
Sunday morning started with riders watching weather radar on their phones and looking for rain gear. Thankfully the threatening images and dark skies gave way to a day of riding under cloud cover with pleasant temps for August and hardly a sprinkle during the event. The early morning shower did add an extra level of challenge to the eight sections.
One section featured a gully with a challenging off camber uphill made all the more daunting by the early morning rain. A creek section tested everyone’s ability to stay loose in rocks above and below the water. The section on the side of the mountain beyond the creek was a good challenge through off-camber slick rocks and close trees. The rest of the sections showcased Rusty’s fine collection of oddly shaped rocks all naturally and very closely placed as perfect challenges to test rider’s technical skill. Many of the smaller rocks inconveniently travelled as the tire tried to roll over their slick mossy surfaces during the day making the challenge all the better. Compliments to Rusty and Berndie for developing and fine-tuning such a challenging but safe course of obstacles.
It was great to have several Trials “notables” attending the event as well. Pate Keen was at the opening and Maddie Hoover, Gary Holbert, Karl Davis and Tim Cone were among the competitors.
Special congratulations to Paul Fuelling (Sportsman) and Pash Popovych (Intermediate) on their first Trials wins. Note that it was Pash’s first Trials event!. Matt Simpson deserves special mention too, placing second in his Intermediate debut.
