Three Stooges Trialsmasters Debut Results

Results are in from the Three Stooges Trial held at Whale Rock Trials, in Bunn NC, on April 10! Thirty three riders gathered on a beautiful day to experience the Trials Masters debut of Larry, Moe and Curly (a.k.a Kevin Bobal, Martin Sturla and Evan Gorcznski – but not necessarily in that order!).  

The new Trials Masters did not disappoint, with nine sections of carefully-chosen, safe but challenging lines for all classes.  Sections 1-3 were a dream for good turners, but a nightmare for others, with lots of off-camber twists up and down and a few log crossings through areas of “the bowl.”  Section 4 gave something of a breather, at Bathtub Rock, which allowed folks to rest a bit for the serious challenge of Section 5.  Aptly named “Curly’s Revenge,” there were hairy twists and turns over a slick, muddy, treacherous ditch that loved dishing out points to the non-British riders.  Several riders, not to be named, took an unintentional mud-bath.  Sections 6-9 were great tests of navigating tight ribbons and twists around rocks and logs that were often a lot more challenging than they appeared – line selection was key.  Section 9 was a mental challenge as well for one entire group, whom we won’t identify (ahem, Vintage Sportsmen) that completely missed a well-marked gate, the entire day!

 So, hats off and a deep thanks to Martin, Kevin, and Evan for stepping up and putting in the work to pull off a great trials event.  Your attention to detail in the special gate cards, very well-chosen lines, trophies, and small things such as Polaroid pics at the award meeting were much appreciated. Let’s make this an annual event -   The StOOges ReTURN!
